The Westchester Regional Emergency Medical Services Council (WREMSCO) and Westchester Regional Medical Advisory Committee (WREMAC) are dedicated to supporting the EMS system and agencies across Westchester County.
Part of that mission, is to provide ongoing support and assistance to enhance EMS agency operations throughout Westchester. Over the past few years, many EMS agencies in Westchester, and across the country, have been struggling with rising operational costs and diminishing staffing pools.
A recently enacted New York State law requires Counties to work with the Regional EMS Councils and Municipal Leaders to develop a countywide Comprehensive Emergency Medical Services Plan in 2026. S8806
An EMS Coalition comprised of WREMSCO members, WREMAC members, county emergency services leadership, and municipal officials was formed to tackle this project. The information gathering process has begun. We see tremendous value in encouraging conversations between municipal leaders and local EMS services. The development of the comprehensive EMS plan will be a joint effort among all stakeholders involved.
On February 4, 2026, WC DES and WREMSCO hosted two EMS Forums, bringing EMS leadership and local municipal leaders together. Links to those meetings are on these pages.
The EMS Coalition will continue to meet regularly to develop and plan additional workshops and info gathering sessions. We will communicate openly and collaborate with EMS agencies throughout the process. We look forward to hearing your ideas and input.
