REMAC ADVISORY

REMAC Advisory S-LAMS 2.8.22

S-LAMS Training

In the second quarter of 2022 the Westchester and Hudson Valley EMS regions will be going live with a new protocol to allow for stroke patients with a high likelihood of large vessel occlusion to be redirected to a hospital with the ability to perform a thrombectomy. This will provide significant benefit to the residents of our regions as it well known that time to thrombectomy has a significant impact to patient outcome.

It is imperative for all providers to become familiar with using this tool. Beginning April 1, 2022, receiving facilities will be anticipating the use of this with suspected CVA patients as this will be the “go live” date.

NOTE: All BLS and ALS providers should complete the training and associated quiz by March 21, 2022. The Westchester REMAC will evaluate provider status as of March 21, 2022 to determine protocol compliancy.

Below is a training link. Go to this link and view the training video. After viewing the training video there is a link to a quiz. Passing for the quiz is 85. You may take the quiz more than once to achieve a passing score (if applicable). The Westchester and Hudson Valley REMAC’s have granted 1.0 hour of CME time for this session. NOTE: This training is for all BLS and ALS providers.

Once you have your completion certificate, please give a copy of the certificate to your primary EMS agency. Each EMS agency, along with the oversight of your Medical Director, will make sure all providers have taken this training. This is a collaborative effort with the Westchester and Hudson Valley regions. Therefore, once you complete this training, it is valid in both regions. Thank you.
